大好きだったドラマFelicityのPilotからです。

高校を卒業して、好きだったベンを追ってNYに来たFelicity。

結局ベンとも上手くいかず、NYに来たことは間違いだったのではないかと悩み、一時は行く予定だった大学に戻ろうと考えるが、少し学びNYにとどまり自分で決めた道を歩もうと決めたFelicity。Pilot最後のエンディングでテープの交換のやり取りをしているFelicityの元家庭教師サリーからFelicityに当てたメッセージが流れる。

Sally: I guess, I'm learning little by little that we decide what our lives are gonna be. Things happen to us. But it's our reactions that matter. I just want you to know, I think you've made a really great choice. And I can't wait to hear what happens.

ここで好きなのは、"But it's our reactionis that matter."のとこです。｢いろいろなことが起きるけど、大事なのはそれに対する反応。｣っていいうところでしょうか。

大学での生活のドラマだから、日本とアメリカの考えの違いにかなりのギャップを感じつつも、Felicityから学ぶことは多いと思います。

↓はPilotの映像。今見ても、Felicityほんと可愛いです！！脱力ファッションで気合入ってないのに似合っちゃうのは素晴らしいです。

Friday night lightsのPilotのエンディング。コーチテイラーのナレーションが流れます。

ジェイソンがタンカで運ばれ、それでも試合は終えなくてはいけない状況。ベンチのサリソンがその代わりを務め、見事チームを勝利へ導きます。試合終了後、相手チームを含め皆で祈ります。そしてジェイソンが運ばれた病院へかけつけます。そのときのナレーション。

Coach Taylor: Give all of us gathered here tonight the strength to remember that life is so very fragile. We are all vulnerable and we will all at some point in our lives fall; we will all fall. We must carry this in our hearts…that what we have is special. That it can be taken from us and that when it is taken from us we will be tested…we will be tested to our very souls. We will now all be tested. It is these times…it is this pain that allows us to look inside ourselves.

fragile=はかない　 vulnerable=弱い　 be tasted=試練にさらされる

これを訳せるくらいまで英語力上げたいです。訳ってのは、英語力もそうだけど、日本語力がないと務まりませんね。。

Six Feet Underのシーズン５のThe Rainbow of Her Reasonsから。好きなシーンです。

クレアがオフィスで働き出したときに同僚の女の人との会話。

Marianne:What’s the matter Claire? Is it Kirsten, is she being a butt?

Claire:Oh no, it’s not that, it’s just these pantyhose.   pantyhose=パンティーストッキング

Marianne: Oh, do you have a run? 'Casue I have a little clear polish you can put on it… have a run=ストッキングが伝線する　

Claire:No, no, it’s not that! It’s just they’re like squeezing against my torso and I feel like I can’t even breathe. I mean none of this work would even seem that hard if I didn’t feel like I was sitting here in some kind of torture chamber all day. squeeze=締め付ける　torso =胴体　torture chamber=拷問部屋

Marianne:Maybe you should try a different brand. Mine energize me.

Claire: No, it’s not the brand, I mean they’re all the same it’s…I mean.I don’t understand how having your legs sheathed in this smooth plastic Barbie leg like encased in a sausage casing would help you do your job better. I mean, doesn’t it seem sexist that it’s a regulation only for women? sheathed =覆われた　encased in=～に入れられる　sexist=性差別的な　

Marianne: Men have to wear ties.

Claire: Right but they don’t suffocate you…and it’s not on their penis. suffocate=息苦しくさせる

Marianne: I’m gonna go wash out some mugs.

クレアと同僚のかみ合ってない会話が最高にいい。クレアほんと面白いです。ほんと、仕事の成果を上げるのにストッキングをはかなくていい！

その後の、大好きなシーン。

まずびっくりなのが、コメンタリーによるとこれはクレア役のLauren Ambroseが実際に歌っているらしいのです。歌上手すぎです。

そして何よりも歌詞が最高です。オフィスで働く女の人のための歌です。このシーンだけでなく、クレアは自分の思っていることを言ってくれてほんとに大好きなキャラクターです。

Six Feet Underのシーズン３のエピソード7のTiming & Spaceから。

クレアとラッセルがアートストアに二人で買い物に行った後に、ラッセルは買うべきだと言ったのにクレアが高すぎて買えないといった絵の具をラッセルはクレアのためにこっそりと買っていたというシーン。

Russell :"I have this theory, that every now and then a person should get what they want right when they want it. It keeps you optimistic."

theory＝理論　　every now and then=時々、たまには 　 right when＝ちょうど～の時に　　optimistic＝楽観的な

久々に英語の表現です。Six Feet Underで好きなキャラクターの一人でもあるラッセルがクレアに言うシーンです。凄く良い言葉だと思うんですけどどうでしょうか。欲しいものを欲しい時にゲットすべき。だなんて自分もそんな考えを常に持ち続けてたいものです。

今一番はまっているそしてお勧めなGrey's Anatomyからです。インターンとして初めて働くことになったMeredithの大変さが分かります。

このドラマ、働くすべての人にほんとおすすめです。見た後、明日も頑張ろうと思うことでしょう！

CarrieとStanfordのお気に入りのモデルDerekがCarrieの部屋でベットに横たわって会話している場面。

Derek: Do you mind if we just lie here?  I get so lonely in the city. Sometimes it's just nice to lie with someone.

Carrie: Sure. We could do that.

Carrie(narration) : It was hard to imagine that anyone so beautiful could ever be lonely.

lie=横たわっている 　lonely=寂しい

完璧かのようなモデルでも人間らしい一面があるのだとわかるシーンですね。

離婚したばかりのRoss。シングル生活を楽しまないと、と言うJoeyに対してRossが言うセリフです。

Ross: See, but I don't want to be single, okey? I just want to be married again.

-ウエディングドレス姿のRachelがコーヒーハウスにやってくる。

Chandler: And I just want to a million dollars!!

Rossが結婚したいといったら、花嫁が現われたのでChandlerは百万ドル欲しいと言ってみます。

はじめてフレンズからのセリフです。

初めてフレンズを見たとき、英語ではなくて日本語吹き替えで見ていました。それでも十分楽しめるコメディですが、英語で理解できるようになると日本語では吹き替えしきれない面白い部分がたくさんあることがわかります。初めて英語音声と日本語字幕で見たときは、あまりにもセリフが速く、字幕にも慣れてなかったのでまったく笑えず、こんなにもテンポが大切だったなんてとショックでした。英語もまったく聞き取れないし。日本語吹き替えを見た後、英語だけで見るようにすることを何回も繰り返してたら、今では英語だけでもすんなり笑えるようになりました。

フレンズのセリフでは、Sex And The CityやSix Feet Underなどに含まれる高度な会話の内容であったり、下品な言葉などが使われてないのでほんとに使えるフレーズばかりだと思います。海外ドラマで英語を勉強したい人のいい教材になると思います！

Stanford: Can you believe anyone that beautiful can be that nice? I keep dreaming that someday he's just gonna turn around and say"Stanford, I love you".

Carrie: Is he gay?

Standord: He denies it. How could anyone that gorgeous be straight?

deny=否定する　　gorgeous=かっこいい、素敵な

「否定してるけど、あんなにゴージャスなのにストレートなわけないでしょ。」というStanfordの見解です。
